Recipients of €25,000 funding YOPE.org
We’re proud to share that Nanosene has been awarded a €25,000 grant from the Yope Foundation as part of their highly competitive Impact Awards program.
This recognition, announced at the start of 2025, comes at a pivotal time in our journey. As a biotech spin-out from Stellenbosch University, we’re developing polymer nanodisc technology to isolate and stabilise membrane proteins, some of the most challenging but important drug targets in pharmaceutical research.
The funding will be used to advance our scaling and R&D efforts, helping us synthesise and scale-up new amphiphilic polymers and refine the nanodiscs that sit at the core of our technology.
What This Means for Our Growth
For our team, this milestone does more than fund our next experiments. It signals to partners and investors that Nanosene is building something with global relevance, and we now have international backing to prove it.
With Yope’s support, we will:
Accelerate R&D on next-generation polymer nanodiscs
Strengthen our IP position and expand our product pipeline
Prepare for future capital rounds and strategic collaborations
Our goal is to empower pharmaceutical researchers with better tools for studying membrane proteins — the very proteins responsible for many critical biological functions and disease mechanisms. With this funding, we’re one step closer to making that a reality.
Proudly South African, Globally Connected
We remain deeply rooted in our academic and innovation ecosystem here in South Africa, especially Stellenbosch University, Innovus Technology Transfer, and LaunchLab, all of whom have helped shape our journey.
Now, with support from Yope.org, we’re taking that homegrown innovation to the world.
We’re grateful for this opportunity and excited for what lies ahead.
